President Biden’s Threats To Take Control of the Oil Industry Could Lead To Worldwide Turmoil
Author Guy Mitchell speaks out on the latest actions of the president’s fight for oil control.
Following the actions of Hurricane Fiona, the White House recently called a meeting with oil executives in the hopes of being able to move forward with its plans on oil. But all that came out of the meeting were accusations of “reaping windfall profits” (according to this report from the Wall Street Journal). As a result, President Joe Biden may be considering an all-out export ban on US petroleum products.
Energy Secretary Jennifer Grahnolm sent a letter to refiners that didn’t hold back, threatening “emergency measures” if exports weren’t reduced. This could be a big problem, especially considering five U.S. refiners have already shut down over the past couple of years.
With exports increasing from Europe and other countries, there could be a severe problem for Americans if Biden goes through with this plan. A recent study by the American Council for Capital Formation (ACCF) noted that if the export ban were to go through, crude oil production in central states such as Oklahoma and the global fuel supply could reduce drastically. That ultimately results in higher fuel prices, particularly with the East Coast where imports are basically relied on. We’re talking about two-thirds of U.S. consumers seeing vastly increased prices.
Here to speak with us about the matter is Guy Mitchell, the author of Global Warming: The Great Deception – The Triumph of Dollars and Politics Over Science and Why You Should Care. His expertise will prove useful with this subject.
Q&A:
- Do you believe Biden is potentially considering this export ban because of what OPEC is doing? Or is there a deeper agenda here that we’re not seeing?
- Why do you believe that Biden is so hellbent on taking these actions for energy? Is there a “cleaner future” that he believes will work better for Americans, or is he simply doing things that line up with his own political agenda?
- Why are world energy markets so important right now? We’ve already seen the effects of what Russia was doing cutting off Germany and other countries with their war with the Ukraine.
- In your latest op-ed, you noted how global energy markets must take a “laissez faire approach.” Can you go more into detail about this?
- What kind of energy policy can Biden put into place to assure that U.S. citizens won’t get “screwed” over, so to speak?
