The host and producer of BorderWars discusses why the judge’s refusal to prosecute the suspects could send a message about future border attacks.
You may recall when, back in late March, dozens of Venezuelan nationals attempted to rush a border station in El Paso in the hopes of entering the United States. Over 200 soldiers were on scene to prevent them from entering, and those that attempted to enter the country were charged. However, that appears to be all that will be done to them.
A report from The Epoch Times indicates that a local Texas judge refused to move forward with charging the migrants, noting that the El Paso District Attorney’s Office “isn’t ready to proceed with hearings for the defendants.”
Judge Humberto Acosta noted, “It is the ruling of the court that all the rioting participation cases will be released on their own recognizance.”
Local assistant District Attorney Ashley Martinez attempted to request a continuance for the hearings to be held at a later time. However, Judge Acosta rejected it.
So what does this say about the lenient treatment of illegal migrants that attempted to rush into our country? Is the Biden administration’s relaxed approach to dealing with migrants to blame here?
Joining us now to discuss this further is Nicole McCaw, a host and producer with NTD Television. She currently serves as producer and host for BorderWars, a new documentary that follows her and her crew as they look at the trials and tribulations occurring at the U.S./Mexico border. Her expertise make her an ideal guest for this show. Welcome, Nicole!
Q&A:
- What are your thoughts on Judge Acosta releasing these migrants after refusing to charge them for their incident at the El Paso border?
- What does this say about the somewhat “relaxed” approach by President Biden and his administration to dealing with migrants?
- Could the dismissal of such charges give others the idea of trying to infiltrate a border on their own accord, knowing they likely won’t be punished?
- What do you think about the way the Biden administration have handled this “border crisis” as a whole?
- If more migrants come in, could this very well cost Biden the Presidential re-election he so desperately seeks?
- Let’s talk about your documentary BorderWars. What motivated you to work on this?
- What would you say was the biggest challenge in getting BorderWars made?
- What has the response to BorderWars been like so far?
- Where can we watch BorderWars? And where can we find more information about it?
