Harming Her Too (Guest: Emily Berning)

Behind all “Safe” Abortion Pills are Women Experiencing Dangerous Consequences

A groundbreaking study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) has revealed that over 10% of women who undergo chemical abortions with mifepristone experience serious complications—22 times the rate previously reported by the FDA. This alarming data challenges the prevailing narrative about the safety of the abortion pill and underscores the urgent need for informed public discourse.

Emily Berning, President and Co-Founder of Let Them Live, is uniquely positioned to speak on this issue. Through her organization, she has directly assisted nearly 1,000 women facing crisis pregnancies, many of whom considered abortion due to financial pressures. Emily’s firsthand experience provides a compelling perspective on the real-world implications of chemical abortions and the systemic factors that lead women to make such choices.

In light of the EPPC’s findings, Emily can offer valuable insights on:

The discrepancy between clinical trial data and real-world outcomes for mifepristone.

The role of financial insecurity in abortion decisions.

The need for reinstating stringent safety protocols for chemical abortions.

Emily’s advocacy emphasizes that supporting women means providing them with safe, informed choices—not exposing them to increased health risks under the guise of convenience.
