The ATF and President Biden Believe That “Ghost Guns” Are a Big Problem In This Country – But That’s Not the Case (Guest: Stephen Willeford)
Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford looks at the statistics provided by an attorney, which immediately halts the argument made by Biden and his administration.
It’s no secret that President Joe Biden, alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), have been on the hunt for “Ghost Guns,” attempting to regulate them in an effort to control gun-related crimes. They believe, based on “current trace data,” they are truly a problem.
However, in a new report from The Epoch Times, Mountain State Legal Foundation Brian Abbas says otherwise. “All the data shows the 80-percent receivers and privately made firearms are not the problem.”
The Foundation is currently suing the government over its “frame or receiver rule,” which calls for these PMFs to be treated on the same level as commercially manufactured firearms, complete with serial numbers and handling by a Federal Firearms License holder.
While Biden believes the increased requests in these “ghost guns” have led to a similar increase in crime (hence the need to “trace” both the original maker source and the purchaser), Abbas disagrees. “A trace is to determine how firearms wind up in the hands of criminals. Just because it was traced doesn’t mean it was used in a crime,” he explains.
Abbas also pointed out that criminals won’t likely change how they manage to get a hold of guns, since they don’t obey the law to begin with. Not to mention that a number of these so-called “crime guns,” as Biden and his administration calls them, are “stolen firearms” anyway.
“That’s just the way it is,” he noted.
With us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, a spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall that Willeford was the “hero with a gun” back in the 2017 Sutherland Springs incident, and he recently co-wrote a book on the subject. His expertise will certainly prove useful in this matter.

- What are your personal thoughts on these so-called “ghost guns”? Is this an ideal way for private citizens to obtain certain firearms, or to add them to their collection?
- Why are Biden and the ATF so hellbent on considering these “crime guns”? Is it mainly due to how easy they are to obtain? Or the fact they can’t be traced?
- Do you believe Biden and the ATF focusing on these “crime guns” instead of actually finding solution to growing crime rates in various cities is a problem? Shouldn’t the focus be going more towards a viable solution, like Constitutional-Carry?
- You’ve often discussed the effectiveness of Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry as some call it. Why do you believe it’s so effective?
- Why do you think certain cities won’t even put it into consideration? The “we’ve got too many guns on the street” excuse? Or something else?
- Where do you think the “ghost gun” market will go from here? Will collectors and citizens continue to consider this option when it comes to certain firearms?
