The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses the recent actions by the U.S. in their effort to end the war with Hamas – but wonders if they’ll even listen.
As the second anniversary of the conflict between Israel and Hamas draws near, the United States has relaunched its efforts to try and bring the war to a peaceful close.
Right before the weekend, President Donald Trump noted that his country is in “very deep negotiations” for Hamas to free the remaining hostages and end the bloody conflict between the two countries.
“We’re in very deep negotiations with Hamas. We said, ‘let ’em all out, right now, let ’em all out, and much better things will happen,’” Trump noted. He also explained how U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff recently met with Qatari officials in an effort to get things moving on a hostage deal.
Trump also warned that if a deal wasn’t going to be reached anytime soon, “it’s going to be a tough situation, it’s going to be nasty…Israel’s choice, but that’s my opinion.”
He also added that he believed some of the hostages in Hamas’ custody have “recently died,” though there’s no official confirmation.
So that once again brings up an interesting question. Under the right terms, would Hamas indeed release the hostages and bring an end to the conflict? Or is the U.S. truly wasting its time on a group that isn’t likely to listen?
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
