Waiting For the “Exceptional Deal” (Guest: David Rubin)

Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses Benjamin Netanyahu’s quest for peace in Israel – but questions if their enemies will ever make a deal.

Negotiations are continuing between Israel and Hamas in an effort to reach another ceasefire deal that, in turn, could mean the exchange of more hostages. However, as Fox News reports, there seems to be trouble reaching that deal, with discussion surrounding support for Palestinians.

That said, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu notes that he is “confident” that a deal will be able to be reached. During an interview that aired over the weekend, Netanyahu, during his visit in Washington, noted that he worked closely with U.S. President Donald Trump to come closer on a deal to release half of the hostages in exchange for said ceasefire.

He made it clear that he wants these hostages returned safely. “I want as many saved. And in the process, we hope that we can get an arrangement where we can bring humanitarian aid to the civilian population [in Gaza] without having Hamas loot it,” he noted.

So, with that, why isn’t the deal being reached? Mainly because the ball remains in Hamas’ court, with them failing to meet certain terms.

Netanyahu noted that the “only reason” the war’s even continuing surrounds the hostages, and Hamas apparently knows this. With that, he still believes that “destroying” them outright is still on the table, and that a deal wouldn’t end the war completely.

So what happens now? Will a deal be reached? Or will Israel have no choice but to completely wipe out its opposition?

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. Do you agree with Netanyahu that the primary reason that the war with Hamas continues is in regards to the hostages that Hamas continues to hold on to?
  2. Why do you think Hamas continues to hold out making any sort of solid deal for a ceasefire? Are they simply that hard to negotiate with? Or are they just trying to get more options in their favor?
  3. What will come of this? Will a ceasefire deal even be reached at this point? Or is it too little, too late?
  4. If it does come down to Israel setting out to obliterate Hamas completely, what will happen to the hostages as a result?
  5. How does U.S. President Donald Trump factor into all of this? Will he continue to work with Netanyahu on more peaceful options? Or provide him what’s necessary to push back against Hamas?
  6. Where do you see the conflict between Israel and Hamas going in the months ahead? Where does this ultimately end?
  7. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
