Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford explains why this week is a big one for those that believe in Concealed-Carry (or Constitutional-Carry).
This year has already seen a number of states support Constitutional-Carry – or Concealed Carry, as some call it – after seeing just how effective it’s been against “active shooters.” Now another state could join this group as of this week, making it the 28th state in the United States to do so.
North Carolina has already passed SB 41, which repealed pistol purchase permits and restored school church carry – which the Gun Owners of America believe is a “historic victory.” But even more history could be made this Tuesday, when a hearing will decide whether Constitutional-Carry is allowed within the state.
With its passing, it would “eliminate the need for government permission to carry a handgun,” according to a statement by the Gun Owners of America. “The permitting system would remain in place for those seeking reciprocity and the NICS bypass.”
While private gun owners and various gun groups (alongside Gun Owners of America) will fight to see the measure passed, obviously there are some anti-gun types that may try and push a vote the other way, concerned about gun violence.
