The Supreme Court Will Soon Decide On a Very Crucial Second Amendment Law

Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford discusses the importance of the Supreme Court looking into crucial Second Amendment cases like Wolford v. Lopez.

As certain individual states continue to try and pass select gun laws that may be in violation of the rights of private gun owners, the Supreme Court will soon be taking a look at a particular landmark case, Wolfort v. Lopez.

The case surrounds a current Hawaii law that prevents gun owners with concealed carry licenses from bringing their firearms onto private property that’s open to the public. Though concealed carry license holders believe they’re within their rights to have firearms on their person, some businesses stand by the right that they can dictate certain rules when it comes to their property.

Several states have similar laws in effect surrounding having firearms on private property. Depending on where the Supreme Court leans, they could either allow concealed-carry citizens to continue to have those firearms, or allow business owners to explain that they don’t want guns on their property.

Considering the outbreak of violence in the United States – particularly with active shooter events that have left many dead or injured – there is some importance surrounding some people having access to firearms. But where could the Supreme Court draw the line?

Stephen Willeford, the “hero with a gun” who serves as spokesman for the Gun Owners of America, joins us now to discuss the situation further.

Q&A:

  1. You’re a proud supporter of Concealed-Carry. Why is it so important for some citizens to have the right to carry a firearm?
  2. What about those that argue against Concealed-Carry, and the concern of having someone carrying a firearm near them? What counterargument would you have for them?
  3. Surrounding the Supreme Court case of Wolfort v. Lopez, do you think Hawaii’s current law is unconstitutional?
  4. Hawaii hasn’t held back on setting up restrictive gun laws within their state. Why do you think that is?
  5. How important would you say this Supreme Court decision is when it comes to Concealed-Carry license carriers? Could it have an effect in other states if the Court decides against them?
  6. Do you believe the Supreme Court will consider the Second Amendment of the Constitution when it comes to this case? What are you hoping the outcome will be?
  7. You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
  8. Where can people find your book?
  9. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.
  10. Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
