CompassCare’s Jim Harden explains why those that failed to focus on the importance of pro-life ended up on the losing side.
After a race that lasted well over a week, the Republicans were able to secure the lead over the House of Representatives, winning 218 seats following Mike Garcia’s re-election in California’s 27th Congressional District. That’s a firm lead over the 209 seats secured by Democrats. Yet the long-anticipated “red wave” was never realized, Republicans losing seats in the Senate.
With this conclusion, one fact is clear – all life is to be protected, including that of unborn children. While pro-abortion candidates outspent the advocates for the preborn by multiple orders of magnitude—1/3 a billion dollars in pro-abortion propaganda and attack ads—Republicans who stood firm on protecting all life equally enjoyed decisive victories according to CompassCare CEO Jim Harden. Those who refused to stand for life—even scrubbing their websites of pro-life material post-Dobbs—were defeated. With that, the argument over abortion will likely over for decisions and elections in the years ahead – including the 2024 presidential election according to Rev. Harden and Jim Messina, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff.
Rev. Harden (or CompassCare Director of Community Relations Daniel Tomlinson) joins us now to discuss this victory for Republicans, and what it could mean for the abortion argument moving forward.
Q&A:
- What does this Republican victory in the House say in general, especially as a comeback from the failure of the “red wave”?
- It seems abortion has been a hot topic over the past year, after the reversal of Roe vs. Wade. Do you see this continuing in 2023 and 2024?
- How “heated” would you say the argument will become? Could we see more states attempting to pass pro-life laws as time goes on? What about pro-abortion ballot initiatives like the ones passed in states such as MI and CA?
- Do you believe there could be justice against those that attack clinics, such as the firebombing of your Buffalo CompassCare location? It seems the FBI has finally woken up on that after all these months.
- What would you like to see in terms of pro-life support as 2023 comes around?
- Where can we learn more about CompassCare and its services?
