GOA Launching “Get Out The Vote” Efforts in Georgia

Attorney Mike Hammond is available to interview by phone (Eastern Time)

Intro: It is no exaggeration that the two Georgia Senate special elections on January 5 will determine the future of the Second Amendment. If both Democrats win, anti-gun Democrats will control the Senate, the House, and the Presidency, if electors vote Joe Biden in December. Here to discuss exactly what’s at stake and what Georgia residents as well as people living outside Georgia can do before special elections take place is Mike Hammond, chief legislative counsel for Gun Owners of America.

Q&A

  1. Tell our listeners what is at stake here in this special election.

Virulent anti-gun Democrat Raphael Warnock will face up against pro-gun Republican Kelly Loeffler. And anti-gun Democrat Jon Ossoff will vie for the seat of pro-gun Republican David Perdue. If both Democrats win as well as Joe Biden, the Second Amendment will be effectively dead, as will our system of limited government.

  1. What steps can we expect from a Democrat-controlled government?

Democrats have promised to pursue a massive ban of most of the popular guns in America. As a senator, Biden engineered the semi-auto ban, and we can expect a ban on many commonly-owned rifles and handguns.

Americans will be “allowed” to keep the guns they have only if they are registered with the federal government and pay a tax stamp. As in California, this registration list will be used as a handy guide when the government takes the next step and comes around to confiscate the guns in civilian hands.

There will also be Universal Background Checks, which means that every gun purchase in the country will end up being registered. Red flag gun confiscation laws will allow for middle-of-the-night raids on law-abiding gun owners, where guns can be confiscated without due process or trial by jury. As we have seen in states that have red flag laws, police can confiscate guns based merely on false or spurious accusations from a disgruntled family member or neighbor. All of this is explicitly contained in Biden’s agenda.

  1. What is Gun Owners of America (GOA) dong to fan the flame for Second Amendment rights in Georgia?

GOA will be on the groundinGeorgia, getting gun owners out to vote, and we could really use your help! Due to the extremely high stakes of this election, it is not enough to simply vote pro-gun. We need gun owners and 2A supporters to step up and go the extra mile.

  1. How can people listening today take action and hep prevent the anti-gun left from taking the majority?

First, residents of Georgia need to register to vote and you have until December 7 to do this. If you can not vote in person, you can request an absentee ballot starting tomorrow, November 18.

Second, we need people to knock on doors and educate voters – and we provide training for this. We need people to make phone calls from their homes. And please consider donating to help GOA mobilize even more volunteers for Loeffler and Purdue.
