Republicans want Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas ousted over his handling of the border, Democrats want this story to go away. Today, the two sides debate whether to dismiss the articles of impeachment or let the trial begin.
With control of the Senate in Democratic hands, all they require is 51 votes. Majority leader Chuck Schumer claims the impeachment was over a mere “policy disagreement” and is “absurd.”
But there is opposition among Democrats as Senator Jon Tester, a Democrat from Montana, faces a difficult reelection fight in the red state.
Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt.
