“A sad realization that our communities must realize is that the attack on First Responders across the country has necessitated that now firefighters and medics must be issued bulletproof vests as part of their gear in order to keep them protected and able to return to their families. It is encouraging to see forward thinking as Portland becomes a major municipality to lead the way in protecting America’s Hero’s. InVest USA remains firmly committed to ensuring every First Responder is properly equipped with a bulletproof vest. We invite every American to join us in standing with America’s Hero’s.”
Joining us in this discussion is Michael Letts, founder of InVest, a charity that gives bulletproof vests to police officers and other first responders.
Questions:
- How Why would Firefighters /Paramedics also need bulletproof vests and not only Law enforcement Officers?
- How many Firefighters/ Paramedics/ and Law Enforcement Officers in America need this essential protective gear?
Answer: Law Enforcement Officers number roughly 1.5 million plus officers with 92% of officers needing Active Shooter Vests according to Federal NIJ Statistics.
Firefighters / Paramedics number roughly 1.2 million firefighters and 250,000 Paramedics. There are very few officers that have any vests as it is just know becoming mainstream as to their need. It would be safe to say 99% or more do not have this lifesaving equipment.
- What is the history behind the current vest situation and why is there such a deficiency of vests for officers in need?
- What is InVestUSA doing to help America’s Hero’s?
5.) How can communities get involved and help make safer neighborhoods and streets?
