Pending Supreme Court Decision On Concealed Carry of Guns Leaves Potential For Stopping Future Mass Shootings – But Also Has Certain Politicians Expressing Major Concern (Guest: Second Amendment)

With the rise in mass shootings, many politicians are on the march for change. With that, the Supreme Court is looking at a big one that not all of them agree with.

The Court is currently pending a decision on allowing more concealed weapons to be carried by civilians on city streets. This would mark a huge win for representatives that have been shouting from the rooftops about the benefit of concealed or open carry.

That said, it has its critics. New York mayor Eric Adams voiced his displeasure over the potential passing, noting how it “keeps me up at night.”

“We have some of the most stringent gun permitting laws,” he explained to the New York Daily News. “I’m extremely concerned about this. My legal team is talking to other cities to determine how we can come together to prepare for this ruling.”

It sounds like arguments against concealed and open carry could continue for months to come. To discuss this in further detail, we’ve invited a spokesperson from the 2nd Amendment Foundation to provide their perspective, and why certain politicians may be acting so harshly against the Supreme Court passing its decision.

Q&A:

  1. Do you think Mayor Adams should be so concerned about this instead of working on ways to bring the crime rate down in New York City? Should he perhaps put more consideration in how the Supreme Court’s ruling could affect crime in his city?
  2. Why do you believe people are so against the Supreme Court’s pending decision on concealed carry? Safety? Or something else along those lines?
  3. Do you see the Supreme Court’s upcoming decision on concealed carry as a benefit? Could states possibly consider other rules to allow for open-carry conditions as a result?
  4. What do you think convinced the Justices on the Supreme Court to act so swiftly towards a concealed carry ruling? Do you believe they see how effective certain citizens can be against mass shooters and other criminals?
  5. What advice do you have for those that are against the Supreme Court decision?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
  7. Those interested can visit http://www.saf.org/.
