It’s been several days since Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney conceded defeat over her House seat to Harriet Hageman, adding one more GOP-enabled seat back to the House. But that said, there are questions as to what Cheney will do now that she’s stepping down from her position in the House.
The writing may have been on the wall for Cheney for some time, between her active role in the House select committee investigating Donald Trump, as well as her vote against the former President to have him impeached. However, there’s a good chance she’s not done just yet, as she’s spoken about the possibility of running for President in 2024, and possibly another political seat if that doesn’t work out.
During her defeat last week, she noted that “this is not a game” and “our work is far from over” despite her stepping down, so Washington hasn’t likely seen the last of her. But the real question is where she’ll go from here. Here to speak to us now about this matter is Joshua Philipp, a reporter for the Epoch Times who also helped create the documentary The Real Story of January 6. (Substitute for Joseph Hanneman accordingly, who also worked on the documentary and can speak specifically about it.)
Q&A:
- What kind of danger do you believe Liz Cheney posed against the GOP and the Trump regime as a whole?
- What do you think drove her to vote for impeaching Trump? Do you believe it was a surprise that so many of her peers turned on her as a result?
- Now that she’s been impeached, what will likely be the next role for her in politics? Could she find a position where she could potentially do more damage to Trump if he possibly announces running for President again?
- Do you believe Cheney will try to motivate more politicians to speak on their own terms, or perhaps instead serve as a warning sign of what happens when you try to follow your own agenda?
- What do you think Hageman will do for the House that Cheney could not?
