Let’s Not Make a Deal: The U.S. and Iran Seem To Be Far From an Agreement With a Potential Strike Threat (Guest: David Rubin)

The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Donald Trump’s reported plans to target individuals in Iran, and what could follow next.

As uneasiness continues in Iran – especially with its threats against Israel – a new report suggests that U.S. President Donald Trump could be targeting specific individuals, in the hopes of pressuring Tehran into a deal over its nuclear program.

This follows a previous U.S. military attack in 2020 that saw the death of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who, at the time, was the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force.

Trump had noted right before the weekend that he was “considering” a strike to push Tehran, as the window to negotiation could close soon. “We’re either going to get a deal, or it’s going to be unfortunate for them,” he noted.

Where does this leave Israel? According to this report, Israel officials don’t believe a diplomatic solution can be reached. As a result, conflict could take place between them and Iran. But considering a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities did take place just months ago, there is the possibility it could happen sooner rather than later.

So can any sort of deal be reached with the right kind of pressure? Or is conflict between Israel and Iran imminent?

Joining us now to discuss this situation further is former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin, who currently serves as the founder and President of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. What are your thoughts on President Trump trying to pressure Tehran into a deal over their nuclear facilities with plans to strike certain targets? Could this backfire, or could it be effective like the last strike on Iran nuclear facilities?
  2. Do you believe Israel officials have a point, that a deal between the U.S. and Iran is unlikely and conflict could begin as a result?
  3. What will this mean for Iran as a whole – and, for that matter, the uneasiness it has created with its own citizens over the past few months?
  4. Where does the potential for conflict with Iran leave Hamas? Could the ceasefire fall apart under new attacks, or will Israel be ready for such a situation?
  5. Is there any path to peace for Israel at this point? Or will the situation get worse before it gets better?
  6. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
