Left Out of the Iran Deal?

Vice President J.D. Vance is “confident” Israel will join the Iran/U.S. deal. But why weren’t they involved already?

A deal has finally been reached between Iran and the United States, putting an end (for the moment) to their conflict and opening up the Strait of Hormuz. But the real question is where this leaves Israel, as they were apparently not part of that plan. And that’s something of interest to Founder and President of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin.

  • A deal was struck between Iran and the United States over the weekend that reportedly puts an end to its ongoing conflict.
  • As a result, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, and Iran will reportedly not be in possession of nuclear weapons.
  • However, this leaves a question surrounding Israel, as, based on comments made by Benjamin Netanyahu, didn’t have a part in the negotiation or resolution.

During a press conference over the weekend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that Israel was not in any sort of understanding about the deal President Donald Trump struck with Iran.

That left some interesting concern, especially considering that the United States was working so closely with Israel in fighting back against Iran.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, however, remains confident that Israel will “be brought in,” but “a little further down the road.”

“What we know is this agreement is going to make Israel safer, it’s going to make the entire region safer,” he explained to NBC News. “What I’ve seen is a lot of misinformation about this agreement – sometimes in the Iranian media, sometimes in the Israeli media.”

But the misinformation leads to even more questions – such as why Israel didn’t have a part in the negotiations.

Rubin joins us now to discuss the situation further. Welcome, Mayor Rubin!

Q&A:

  1. What are your thoughts on the deal struck between the United States and Iran? Is it good news for Israel, or is it too soon to tell?
  2. It seems a bit odd that Israel didn’t get to play any sort of part in negotiation or reaching a resolution with this deal. Do you believe Netanyahu is frustrated with this?
  3. What about Vance’s comments that Israel will eventually become part of the deal “down the road”? Does this seem inconclusive? Shouldn’t Israel have been involved much sooner?
  4. Do the terms that Iran agreed to seem to be aligned with what Israel has planned? Or is there cause for concern?
  5. What is the ultimate resolution here? Should Trump welcome Israel into the deal without waiting for an invitation “down the road”?
  6. For that matter, where does this situation leave Hamas? Will it continue to honor its ceasefire with Israel?
  7. Tell us more about your work with the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
