The U.S. Justice Department agreed to pay more than 100 victims of sports doctor Larry Nassar $138.7 million for knowing of his abuse but failing to step in for more than a year. FBI agents in Indianapolis and Lost Angeles had key information in 2015 but did nothing until 2016 when they found images of child sex abuse.
This settlement is in addition to the $500 million Michigan State University agreed to pay the victims as the university missed its chance to stop him over the course of years. U.S Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney were among his more than 300 victims.
Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder, and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships.
Letts has been following this story closely and has been calling for accountability at the FBI. Welcome, Michael.
