The former Mayor of Shiloh in the West Bank speaks up about the counterattack, and whether any peace can be sustained in Israel.
Israel is seeing some rough times as of late, especially with a huge military operation that just took place this morning.
Per this report from CNN, Israeli forces just launched the largest operation in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin in more than 20 years. As a result, at least eight people have died, along with at least 50 people being injured.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) noted that it launched “extensive counterterrorism effort in the area of the city of Jenin and the Jenin Camp,” in an effort to strike the “terrorist infrastructure.”
However, several are condemning the attack, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas calling the operation nothing more than “a new war crime.”
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, the former Mayor of Shiloh in the West Bank, Israel. Mayor Rubin, a respected leader in the region, has been actively working towards peace and security for his community. In light of recent events, including the counterterrorism efforts in the city of Jenin, where Israeli forces targeted militant fighters, it is crucial to gain Mayor Rubin’s perspective on the challenges faced and the path to stability. We welcome him to our show.
