President Joe Biden Still Doesn’t Seem To Understand How Banning Assault Weapons Wouldn’t Work

A representative for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why the President’s call for stricter gun control isn’t the answer when it comes to stopping “active shooter” events.

Over the weekend leading up to July 4th, a number of shootings took place in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Fort Worth, with at least ten people killed and dozens others injured. With that, President Joe Biden has made a statement, once again calling for strict gun control and banning “assault weapons.”

In the statement, he noted, “It is within our power to once again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to require safe storage of guns, to end gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and to enact universal background checks.”

Biden has been pushing for an “assault weapons” ban over the past few months, believing it to be the proper solution for stopping “active shooter” events. However, many gun advocates have noted it’s a useless stance, not only because of the Second Amendment, but also because another solution has proven to be effective against shooters – Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry, as some call it.

A representative for the Second Amendment Foundation joins us now to discuss this further. They are a group that firmly believes in the right for everyone to bear arms, as provided by the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Their expertise will prove useful with this subject.

Q&A:

  1. So, in your words, tell us why President Biden’s proposed ban on “assault weapons” wouldn’t work.
  2. Do you believe he has the power to ban such weapons again, as he did before? Or do you believe both Congress and the Senate would stand in his way?
  3. Why does he believe an outright ban would work, especially considering how many weapons are accessible through online purchases and markets these days?
  4. Tell us the benefits of Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry, and why it’s the most proven solution against “active shooters.”
  5. If someone were to note that Concealed-Carry people would simple bring “more guns onto the street,” what would be your counter-argument?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and what it can do for its members?
