The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Donald Trump’s efforts to get a ceasefire agreement made in Hamas – and if Netanyahu should listen.
In the midst of ongoing conflict with Iran, Israel hasn’t taken its focus off of Hamas. In fact, it’s already begun ordering Palestinians to evacuate areas across northern Gaza as it expects intensified fighting against its long-time enemy.
However, President Donald Trump believes now is the time to “make the deal in Gaza” in an effort to bring another ceasefire and a potential end to the war.
The only question now is what happens next. Netanyahu has reportedly stated he will hold talks to move forward on the progress of Israel’s offensive, while a senior security official has noted that expanding fighting to new areas in Gaza could endanger any remaining Israeli hostages.
So what now? Should the fight continue to expand and put them at risk? Or should Netanyahu give consideration to making this “deal” with Hamas?
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
Q&A:
- How much progress do you think Israel has made in its ongoing fight with Hamas? Would you say they’re getting much closer to stopping them once and for all?
- What about the remaining Israeli hostages? What kind of focus do you believe will be on them?
- President Donald Trump has pressured Israel to “make the deal in Gaza” as he pushes for another ceasefire with Hamas. Do you think Netanyahu is interested in doing that at this point in time? Or will he continue with his military push?
- Why does Trump have an interest in another ceasefire deal being made, you think? Especially after the U.S.’ actions in Iran this past week?
- Where do you see the Israel/Hamas conflict going in the months ahead?
