Is Hamas Starting To Weaken? (Guest: Grant Berry)

The founder of Reconnecting Ministries discusses Hamas’ weakening resolve as it offers a new hostage deal in the face of Israel’s new offensive.

After nearly two years of conflict with Israel, it appears that the cracks are finally beginning to show in Hamas’ offensive.

According to the BBC, Hamas has actually stepped forth with an offer to release more hostages, provided Israel can meet its terms on a new ceasefire deal. Negotiations recently took place over the weekend, following the launch of a new offensive on the Gaza Strip by Israel.

Hamas is aiming for a 60-day truce and the release of several Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for nine Israeli hostages. The deal would also potentially allow much-needed aid trucks into the Gaza strip, at a time when many are in need of them. It’s reported that both Qatari and U.S. mediators are working closely with these moderations.

While Israel has not yet provided a response or any sort of agreement to the deal, it shows that Hamas might be reaching a point of desperation – especially with many of their own Palestinians protesting against them as of late.

Could Hamas finally be reaching a breaking point in the conflict? Or will the situation get worse?

Joining us now to discuss this further is Grant Berry, founder of Reconnecting Ministries and the author and producer of the Romans 911 project. His expertise on the matter make him a great subject for this interview. Welcome, Mr. Berry.

  2. Do you believe, with the Palestinian protests and the growing conditions on the Gaza strip, that Hamas is finally beginning to wear down in this war?
  3. Israel has yet to respond to the ceasefire. Do you believe they will at some point? Or could they be working on some kind of counteroffer?
