Altitude Adjustment (Guest: Joe Evermore)

Two Boys climbing toward history—literally

In September 2025, 11-year-old Sam Evermore will attempt to summit the legendary Matterhorn, the 14,000-foot alpine giant straddling Switzerland and Italy. It’s not his first attempt: in 2024, Sam climbed within 1,000 feet of the peak before weather forced him to turn back. Now, armed with more training and unshakable determination, he’s ready to break the world record as the youngest person ever to reach the top.

But that’s only half the story.

Two months later, in November, Sam’s 9-year-old brother Sylvan is planning a climb that’s no less ambitious—if not more so. He’s preparing to scale El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, the tallest sheer granite face in North America and one of the most technically demanding climbs in the world. If successful, Sylvan will set a record of his own, becoming the youngest person to summit the storied 3,000-foot vertical cliff.

This is not just a story about records or remarkable athleticism. It’s about a family that challenges the limits of what’s possible. Joe Evermore is raising sons who are more than climbers—they’re symbols of courage, endurance, and the belief that age should never limit ambition.

Both boys are training under the close supervision of experienced mountaineers and in full compliance with safety protocols. Their journeys are being documented for potential publication, speaking engagements, and media appearances.

This is a story of adventure, resilience, and family that deserves national attention.

If you’re interested in covering or interviewing Joe, Sam, or Sylvan Evermore, we’d be happy to provide further details.

About Sylvan, Sam, Joe, and the Evermores…
Sylvan and his older brother Sam are kids who love to climb mountains with their dad. They even set world records while doing it! Each rock face they scale is one more chance to get to the top, look out over the world, holler, “Whoop!” and give out high fives.

But to dad, Joe, their tandem climbs each have a different purpose. Each mountain is intended to be another challenge that Sam will learn to overcome. Joe is banking each ascent, creating a stash of victories upon which Sam can make withdrawals throughout his life, so he can not only climb a few mountains, but move a few too.
