Oman, Not Again (Guest: David Rubin)

Talks circle back as Iran sprints toward Nuclear Capability

As indirect talks between the United States and Iran resume yet again—first in Oman, then Rome, and now reportedly heading back to Oman—former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Middle East expert David Rubin has a blunt message: Iran is stalling.

As part of the Trump administration’s threat of ‘Maximum pressure’ on Iran, Trump has made clear tht Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons. Yet despite that strong stance, week after week, the negotiations drag on, giving Iran exactly what it wants—time.

“The Iranians are master negotiators,” says Rubin. “Their entire strategy is to stall, obfuscate, and buy time while they continue to inch closer to their nuclear goals. And sadly, this pattern is repeating itself yet again.”

Rubin emphasizes that President Trump fully understands the urgency of the Iranian nuclear threat and has made it abundantly clear that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons. However, in an effort to exhaust all diplomatic options, the administration has allowed indirect negotiations to continue.

“President Trump knows exactly what’s at stake,” Rubin says. “He’s showing restraint for now, giving diplomacy a chance—but make no mistake, that patience is not unlimited.”

Israel is like a Pitbull on a leash—restrained, for now, by Trump’s steady hand. “The leash is tight, but it won’t hold forever,” Rubin warns. “Israel sees the danger up close and is prepared to act. President Trump is the one keeping the situation from escalating—at least for the moment.”
