On February 14, 2018, Nikolas Cruz opened fire on students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida and murdered 17 people. In the wake of that tragedy, imagine what the reaction would have been if people would have blamed the shooting on the dead people or raised money on behalf of causes Cruz supported.
It didn’t happen. Even though Democrats went out and tried to blame the guns for the shooting (as they always do), they weren’t foolish enough to try to blame the innocent victims.
That was five years ago. Today, in the wake of the Nashville shooting in a Christian school that left six people dead, Democrats and many mainstream media outlets are blaming nine-year-old children for the shooting.
Why? Because their Christian faith doesn’t support the gender ideology agenda, and the murderer was transgender.
Federal, state, and local governments passed hate crime laws to increase penalties that could be leveled against people if their crimes are motivated by hatred of a person’s race, sexual orientation, or religion. There’s nothing wrong with that, on the surface, except when it comes to determining what is a hate crime.
For one thing, it can certainly be argued that any violent crime against someone is a hate crime, but when considered through the lens of race, religion, and sexual orientation, it has become apparent that Democrats are willing to ignore true hate crimes while pushing fake hate crimes.
They have gone out of their way to reframe the shooting so that the mentally-disturbed biological female who murdered children and adults as the victim while the innocent victims are oppressors and threatening the lives of trans-people because they don’t support their belief that sexual identity is whatever you want it to be.
Even if that were true, since when is threatening a life, stated or implied, actually worse than taking a life?
It shouldn’t be surprising that Democrats’ view of right and wrong is so… well, wrong. Morality is not what they use to determine whether something is good or bad. They use their leftist political views to determine that. Their decision is based on what’s best for them and their beliefs.
Playing politics with the truth has spread from politicians to judges, to prosecutors, and the public. It has eroded the common foundation the country was built on for freedom and justice.
We can see the result of that erosion by simply scanning the headlines any given day.
Crime is rising. Criminals are not prosecuted or are given minor sentences. Victims are blamed. Media personalities can call for violence against Republicans publicly with no fear of losing their jobs. Government bureaucrats can lie, sometimes openly, without fear of reprisal. And sadly, a child attending school can lose his or her life because a murderer doesn’t like the opinion of the parents.
And to say “no” or even question any of this will bring the weight of government and the media down on your head.
This is not right, and it is not justice. And this country needs both right now, or we risk dissolving as a country.
