What we can Learn from a 3rd World Country on Success in Life
Intro: The world is still scratching their collective heads as to how on earth a 3rd World nation just defeated the most powerful country in world history. Helping us decode and discern is Medical Futurist Dr. Daniel O’Brien, whose book Camel Resistance teaches how to dissect success from the core of defeat in government, business, and in our personal lives.
Q&A:
1. Dr. Dan tell me about your book? Why did you decide to write about camels being a MD?
Answer: Camels have been around for 45 million years and they are the most adapted animal. It’s not about survival and recovery mode like we all have lived with COVID and other global crises, but rather it’s about perpetually adapting to situations like how the camel does.
2. What do camels have to do with military strategy or success in life?
Answer: The Taliban acted more like camels, durable and patient. In contrast, certain U.S. leaders were impatient and folded like a cheap suit.
2. Dr. Dan, how does your book relate to what is going on in the news today with vaccination numbers, Afghanistan, and the hurricanes in the South?
Answer: Adapting is the mindset we should stay focused on. This is key in any crisis including what is happening in the world today. Perpetually adapting is a challenge becoming an opportunity.
3. Dr. Dan, is there a difference between resilient leaders and CAMEL resilient leaders?
Answer: Camel resilient leaders perpetually adapt and not just push forward without clear direction. Camel Resilience is exactly the type of leadership all employees including CEOs of companies need to implement.
4. Dr. Dan what impact has healthcare technology had because of COVID and what does the future look like?
Answer: The future is here with healthcare technology and the use of remote monitoring, telemedicine, robotic surgery, A.I, and digital health is here to stay.
5. Dr. Dan how have families, employers, and employees perpetually adapted during the past year especially with COVID?
Answer: Look at during COVID how families had to perpetually adapt with working at home and balancing family life, and look how employees had to adapt with keeping their employees safe, and and look at how employers adapted by attending endless zoom calls throughout the day only to suffer from “zoom burnout” but the employers persisted through with their resilience.
6. Dr. Dan, where is the future of medicine headed?
Answer: Healthcare technology can help the B, C, D level students. The A students have it figured out and don’t need as much help with healthcare technology. These healthcare technology tools will help these “lower level” students so to speak to figure it out, so individuals need the extra resources like technology. Also, Adherence is huge, and public health and population health (social determinants) is big. The holistic and serving of the underserved communities is important right now and will continue to be important as we head toward the future.
7. Dr. Dan, where may we buy your book or get more information on you and your work?
Dr. Dan answer: The book is available on Amazon.com and my website is: drdanmd.com
