How Badly Are Tempers Flaring Over This Week’s G7 Summit In Hiroshima? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times’ Nan Su discusses how China could very well overshadow this week’s world summit.

Japan is set to host several leaders at this week’s G7 Summit in Hiroshima. However, it appears that China is trying to get some influence on the event as it takes place.

First off, several members of the Summit are already looking into how China uses its “economic coercion”against other countries. During a press conference, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen noted that several of these countries joined the U.S. in expressing concern over this financial strength. As a result, it may be looking to impose targeted restrictions on outbound investment to China, which may not sit easy with Xi Jinping and the CCP (Chinese Communist Party).

To make matters worse, the country is also making moves with its military. CNN recently reported that a Chinese naval flotilla led by a powerful destroyer has been working its way around Japan’s main islands, adding further tension to not only Japan, but also Taiwan – a country it has continuously harassed for control over the past few years. This stems from “Japan’s recent provocative remarks” about Taiwan, according to the report.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida responded to the matter, stating that “the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is critical not just for our country, but for the whole international community.”

So how will China’s involvement in the G7 Summit go this week? Joining us now to discuss this further is Nan Su, an investigative senior journalist for The Epoch Times. His knowledge in all things China will prove very useful for this subject.

Q&A:

  1. What is China thinking sending a small part of its Navy around Japan and Taiwan? Is it trying to exert military dominance in a “wrong place, wrong time” situation?
  2. Should members of the G7 Summit be concerned by China’s financial strength over other countries?
  3. Do you believe China could retaliate if the Summit puts so-called restrictions in place to prevent outward investment? What do you believe Jinping and the CCP could do?
  4. How do you think this week’s Summit will go as a whole? Do you believe members will try to relate to China, or simply remind them of how strong they are if they try to retaliate?
  5. Where do you see this fight going in the months ahead? China seems to be positioning itself for war. Do you potentially see this happening?
  6. Speaking of what’s going on with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
