Finally, Protection For Gun Manufacturers!

A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America discusses the importance of West Virginia’s recently introduced laws – and why other states should follow suit.

At a time when certain states are going after the Second Amendment rights of private gun owners, West Virginia is instead giving them – and gun manufacturers – the support they deserve.

The state recently announced that it has signed three new bills into law, which provide protections for both private gun owners and manufacturers alike. They are as follows:

  • House Bill 2067 notes that firearm companies will not be held liable for the actions of those who use their products.
  • House Bill 3342 will stop banks that contract within the state from using discrimination against firearm entities or trade associations
  • Senate Bill 270 will prevent the government from restricting the use of guns during declared emergencies or during disaster responses

In a speech, Governor Patrick Morrisey noted, “As Governor, I will always support and defend West Virginians’ God-given constitutional rights, The bills I signed today further enshrine West Virginia’s strong support for the Second Amendment. Thank you to the legislature for working with me to get this done.”

While there will no doubt be those that argue against the signing of these bills – more than likely Democrat opposers – it’s a step in the right direction for protecting the rights of those that not only use firearms, but also make them. So why can’t other states follow suit?

Joining us now is a spokesman for the Gun Owners of America to discuss the effects of such a bill.

Mark Jones, who serves as National Director for the Gun Owners of America, is available for interview. There is also Stephen Willeford, who currently serves as spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. Stephen is the “hero with a gun” from the Sutherland Springs incident in 2017, which he has since co-written a book about.

We welcome our guest to the show!

Q&A:

  1. Why is it so important for a state like West Virginia to issue protection for gun manufacturers? Are they literally under fire right now for the actions of those that use their firearms?
  2. Do banks really go as far as try to limit association with those that clearly support the use of firearms? Doesn’t this seem to go against their code of ethics?
  3. What do you think about those that would try to oppose the use of firearms in the midst of natural emergencies? Wouldn’t protection be necessary in some cases, such as stopping looters?
  4. West Virginia has certainly set a key example when it comes to protecting Second Amendment rights and gun manufacturers. Could other states follow suit? Why or why not?
  5. Where do you see the argument surrounding gun rights going as 2025 continues on?
  6. FOR STEPHEN: You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
  7. FOR STEPHEN: Where can people find your book?
    1. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.
  8. FOR MARK: Tell us more about the Hunter Outreach program.
