After a 500-Day Deadlock and 3 Unprecedented elections in one year, the Netanyahu-Benny Gantz Unity Government Begins!
Included in the power sharing agreement is Bibi, swore-in the new government in a deal that includes turning over the Prime Minister reins in 18 months to his rival-turned-partner Benny Gantz.
Here with us to examine what this means for Israel and the United States is David Rubin, former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel and author of the book, “Trump and the Jews,” and an expert on the soon-to-be-annexed regions within The West Bank (Samaria and Judea).
Suggested Q&A:
- Is this Unity Government a good or bad thing for Israel and the world?
Answer: At least initially it is a good thing since Bibi Netanyahu and President Trump and their top advisers work well together. Time will tell how what the relationship will be like between a Benny Gantz and whomever is the U.S. President 18 months from now, if and when Gantz begins his turn as Israeli Prime Minister.
- How is it possible for Netanyahu to continue to be Prime Minister while under indictment—have they dropped the indictment?
Answer: There is no law on the books in Israel preventing a Prime Minister from holding elected office while under indictment. We believe that the accused is innocent until proven guilty.
- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is pretty high up the food chain in world affairs. Why did he make the last-minute trip to Israel, even during the Coronavirus pandemic?
Answer: Israel and the United States are close allies and the cooperation between our two countries has increased exponentially during the Trump administration. President Trump and Secretary Pompeo understand that Israel is a U.S. ally and the only democracy in the Middle East where there are many threats to American interests and to those in the free world.
- Like what for instance? Like Iran. Despite the fact that the radical Islamic regime has been hit hard by the coronavirus, they have not slowed down the pace of their race for the nuclear bomb and weapons programs nor their support for international terrorism. These are serious threats to Israel and to American interests, and these threats have not been erased by the coronavirus. What has become a more serious issue is the China issue and Pompeo is sharing American concerns about Chinese attempts to make espionage inroads through the Israeli economy.
- Which West Bank regions are to be annexed, when, why, and how it will impact Israel, the U.S. and the world?
Answer: Samaria including Shiloh, the ancient capital of Israel where I served as mayor, and also to be annexed is Judea.
- Your book, “Trump and the Jews”, discusses many of these issues that affect our two countries. Where can our viewers/listeners get a copy?
