Europe’s Energy Crisis Could Be Much Worse In 2023, Many Are Estimating (Guest: Guy Mitchell)

Author Guy Mitchell explains why the worst may not come until sometime next year.

Europe’s ongoing energy crisis has been going on for a few months, with the country warning citizens that there could be potential blackout dates in an effort to balance the load. However, several sources indicate that the worst could be yet to come, especially when 2023 rolls around.

On the heels of the country announcing plans to propose a dynamic price cap on its biggest gas exchange, many sources are hinting that the country may not have enough energy to get through winter. Alexei Miller, CEO for Russian state energy giant Gazprom, told CNN that there was “no guarantee” it could meet the demands.

Research data firm indicates that Russia’s share of natural gas imports went down from 36 percent to 9 percent over the past few months; and Russian crude oil importing dropped a staggering 33 percent, ahead of a ban coming up in just a couple of months.

Prices for gas have already increased rapidly, to a point of about 265 percent above where they usually were. And with resources running low, that could rise even further, forcing several to feel the effects.

Here to speak with us now about Europe’s energy crisis Guy Mitchell, the author of Global Warming: The Great Deception – The Triumph of Dollars and Politics Over Science and Why You Should Care. He recently wrote an op-ed titled The Deindustrialization of the European Union which delves deeply into this subject, so his expertise is certainly welcome here.

Q&A:

  1. Let’s just get right into it – how much trouble is Europe in right now with its energy issues?
  2. Do you believe the country did this to themselves, trying to work on more natural resources just when Russia cut them off in the midst of its war with Ukraine?
  3. How much of a negative impact will gas prices take on EU citizens? Do you see any sort of resolution that will allow Europe to keep energy affordable, or are we already beyond this point?
  4. You’ve noted that this is one of the biggest mistakes in energy resourcing in some time, even surpassing previous ones made by the United States. Do you see any hope of a turnaround in 2023, or will matters get worse?
  5. President Biden has been talking about an alternate energy plan for some time, but do you think he may consider something else after seeing the effects of what took place in Europe? Or is it full speed ahead for his administration?
  6. Do you possibly see more blackouts for sections of Europe to balance with the lost energy resources? Or will it do something else?
  7. Tell us more about your latest book, Global Warming: The Great Deception – The Triumph of Dollars and Politics Over Science and Why You Should Care, and why it’s such a relevant read right now in the face of a potential energy crisis.
  8. Where can consumers find out more about your book, Global Warming: The Great Deception?

It’s available for purchase on Amazon here, and there’s also a Kindle version available here.
