Raleigh’s Active Shooter Event Is the Latest Reason Why the U.S. Needs a Nationwide Constitutional-Carry Solution (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The “hero with a gun” Stephen Willeford explains why Constitutional-carry is a far better option than trying to go for an all-out ban.

The latest active shooter event for 2022 has unfolded in the heart of Raleigh, leaving a community reeling from its results. Five people – including three women and a police officer – are dead due to the actions of a 15-year old boy, who is currently in custody and in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

The investigation is currently ongoing, according to reports, with police trying to piece together what could’ve motivated such a young boy to do such a thing. That said, this is the latest active shooter event without a solution – though Stephen Willeford has a pretty good idea what to do.

Stephen serves as a spokesman for Gun Owners of America. You may also recall in 2017 how he stopped the Sutherland Springs, Texas mass shooting, acting as the “good guy with a gun.” His expertise is certainly welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. You’ve spoken at great length in the past about the effectiveness of private citizens having the option to Constitutional-carry. Why do you think this is the most viable solution to resolving active shooter events like this one?
  2. President Joe Biden has proposed a ban on assault rifles, as he’s attempted to do in the past. But could a ban stop people from getting their hands on a gun? It just seems so easy to buy one secondhand or online these days.
  3. Some states have already approved Constitutional-carry, but what do you think it would take to motivate other states to do so?
  4. As someone who’s seen an active shooter event first-hand and stopped it, do you think someone could’ve reasoned with this young man? Or did the police not have a choice in this matter?
  5. How much does it bother you that someone of such a young age could get their hands on an assault rifle? Do you think regulations need to be put in place, or is that a decision that’s best left to the parents?
  6. You’ve discussed a previous report in which the FBI reportedly Constitutional-carry numbers showing the effectiveness of Constitutional-carry heroes against active shooters. Why do you think they’re doing this?
  7. For anyone that would argue against the benefits of Constitutional-carry, how would you explain how effective it could be?
  8. Where can we learn more about you and your current work with the Gun Owners of America?
