Could the ATF Be Spying On Gun Owners? (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The “hero with a gun” and spokesman for Gun Owners of America discusses some potentially heinous actions by the agency.

Congress is soon going to vote on potentially reauthorizing FISA 702, which could leave a huge impact on Constitutional rights – especially to gun owners.

With this potentially being re-approved, that will allow the Bureau of Alcohol, Fire, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF) to “monitor foreign terrorists outside our borders,” as well as other potential threats. However, that’s vague territory, as that means the agency would be free and clear to spy on Americans. Including gun owners.

Once passed, FISA 702 could allow the ATF, or any agency for that matter, to collect personal information on millions of Americans. Members of Congress even noted that this “poses a serious threat to Americans’ privacy,” including where they go to church, where their children go to school, and whether they have visited a gun store or shooting range.

That’s a big one, especially considering that the Second Amendment protects the right for anyone to keep and bear arms.

How big a problem could this become? Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall Willeford being the “hero with a gun” with the Sutherland Springs situation in 2017, in which he’s co-authored a book. His expertise on gun rights make him an ideal guest for this interview. Welcome, Stephen!
