Charlie Kirk’s Trusted Friend Opens Up

Charlie’s Torch: Close Friend Preserves Charlie Kirk’s Words and Photos while Carrying his Mission Forward

Before Charlie Kirk became one of the most recognizable conservative voices in America, he was simply a friend who never seemed to stop moving. Christy Edwards knew him for years, long before the crowds, cameras and national headlines, and her deeply personal new book, Charlie Kirk, in His Own Words, offers an intimate look at the man she knew when no one else was watching.

Their friendship began after Donald Trump Jr. introduced them at a Trump fundraiser in Jackson Hole. What followed was nearly a decade of conversations, travel, advice and friendship. Edwards logged 69 flights in a ten-month stretch trying to keep pace with Kirk. When his laundry ran out between cities, she bought his socks and ties. When important donors were waiting and his clothes were not up to the occasion, she convinced him to change. They flew private when necessary and $99 commercial flights when practical—whatever got Kirk to the next event.

Now, Edwards is still grieving and remembering her friend by letting him tell his own story.

Rather than writing a biography, Charlie Kirk, in His Own Words is built around Kirk’s own posts on X, organized around the subjects that mattered most to him: faith, Scripture, free speech, family, Gen Z, elections, education and censorship. His words are accompanied by personal photographs and the extraordinary tributes that poured in following his death—from President Trump and Melania Trump to Elon Musk, Ted Cruz and ordinary people around the world.

But this is more than a memorial. It is a deeply personal portrait of the Charlie few people saw: the friend behind the public figure, the relentless traveler, the loyal confidant and the man whose private life was often very different from the caricature painted by his critics.

Edwards keeps none of the proceeds. One hundred percent of her author earnings will fund Carry the Torch, the nonprofit she founded to support the next generation of young leaders in Kirk’s memory.

The book rests on Genesis 50:20: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” For Edwards, that verse became both an anchor through unimaginable grief and a mission to ensure Charlie’s influence continues through those who follow.

Available now for remote interviews, Christy Edwards can discuss the friend the world never knew—and why she believes Charlie’s own words remain his most powerful legacy.

ABOUT CHRISTY EDWARDS…

Christy Edwards is a conservative entrepreneur and a lifelong Christian who has been in the movement since she was handing out flyers for campaigns in high school. She built Righter, the dating app for conservatives, and has spent years backing veterans and animal welfare causes. Her friendship with Charlie grew close over time, part mentorship and part older sister keeping an eye on him. She runs Carry the Torch now, carrying his work forward. When her son needed a college reference letter, Charlie wrote it himself that same day and sent it straight to the school, no assistant, no delay.
