Shapiro Mocks Jesus: Prominent Conservative Ben Shapiro Dismisses Christ and a Rabbi Pushes Back

Ben Shapiro is one of America’s most influential conservative voices. But his comments about Jesus Christ during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast are drawing renewed attention—and Messianic Rabbi Kirt Schneider, purveyor of Jews.com says they expose a much deeper question for the Jewish world.
That question is now impossible to miss across New York City. Jews.com has launched a bold billboard campaign throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan and northern New Jersey, asking Jewish passersby a simple but provocative question: “Could Jesus Be Your Messiah?” The campaign directs seekers to a platform designed specifically to explore Yeshua through the Hebrew Scriptures, prophecy and the Jewish roots of faith.
When Rogan asked Shapiro who he believed Jesus was historically, Shapiro answered that Jesus was a Jew who “tried to lead a revolt against the Romans and got killed for his trouble,” adding that he did not believe Jesus was resurrected.
Schneider, founder of the groundbreaking outreach platform Jews.com, says Shapiro’s perspective is not simply an independent examination of history.
“Ben Shapiro does not have revelation. He’s only puppeting the rabbinic tradition that he was raised in,” says Schneider. “He says, ‘Jews don’t believe … the rabbis don’t …’ In regard to Ben’s comments about who Jesus is, who Jesus was historically, and that there was no resurrection, Ben is simply a product of his culture.”
Schneider points to the New Testament account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. According to John 11, the religious leadership responded not by embracing the miracle, but by plotting against Jesus. Soon afterward, John 12 describes efforts to eliminate Lazarus as well—the living evidence of what had happened.
“Since the time of the New Testament Pharisees, the resurrection of Jesus has been covered up to the Jewish world,” Schneider says. “After Yeshua raised Lazarus from the dead, the Pharisees and religious leaders sought to stop the movement of Jews who were becoming believers by scheming to kill Jesus. As if that wasn’t enough, they next sought to destroy the evidence by plotting to kill Lazarus.”
The controversy comes as Jews.com launches an ambitious outreach effort inviting Jewish people to examine the Hebrew Scriptures and reconsider one of history’s most consequential questions: Could Yeshua—Jesus—be the Messiah Israel has been waiting for? The platform encourages Jewish audiences to explore Scripture, ask private questions and investigate the Messiah question for themselves.
