Illegal Texas Flood: Caravan Moving Slow as a Hurricane and Visible Long Before making U.S. Landfall
When Stevie Ray Vaughan sang about a “Texas Flood,” he wasn’t talking about a caravan of migrants flowing toward the Lone Star State. Today, that phrase takes on a very different meaning as a new migrant caravan moves north through Mexico toward the U.S. border. Josh Alballero, founder of [AmericaSeDefiende.com], is a conservative Hispanic voice advocating legal immigration, America’s founding principles and the U.S. Constitution. He is also hours and days ahead of the curve, watching the developing caravan closely through an extensive network of contacts throughout Mexico and Latin America.

The caravan reportedly began moving out of Honduras on September 20 and has grown to more than 600 migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador and Haiti. U.S. officials have warned that the group is heading toward the U.S.-Mexico border, potentially bringing another large migration event to Texas.
Alballero’s perspective is particularly interesting because many of the people providing him information are Mexican citizens living south of the border. Through his social-media network, they routinely send him firsthand, on-the-ground accounts of what they are seeing, sometimes well before those developments receive widespread attention in the American media.
And according to Alballero, many of those Mexican contacts are emphatically opposed to the migrant caravans themselves. Their reasons vary, but they include concerns about the impact these organized movements are having on Mexico and the broader consequences of mass illegal immigration.
Alballero makes an important distinction often lost in the immigration debate: supporting immigration does not mean supporting illegal immigration. As a conservative Hispanic, he believes America can—and should—welcome immigrants who follow the legal process while simultaneously enforcing the laws governing who enters the country.
The caravan also raises a question Alballero believes deserves substantially more attention: Who is funding these caravans?
Rather than simply focusing on the people arriving at the border, Alballero says authorities should follow the money behind the movements. Who organizes them? Who provides transportation, food, supplies or logistical support? Where does the money originate? And if organizations or individuals are violating U.S. law by facilitating illegal entry, shouldn’t those responsible be investigated and prosecuted?
Then there is the Texas Flood metaphor. The average human body is roughly 60% water, making the description of a mass movement of people as a “flood” both figurative and, in an odd sense, literal.
Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Texas Flood” was about rain. This time, the flood appears to be heading north on hundreds of sets of two legs.
Alballero can discuss the migrant caravan, firsthand reports from his Mexican contacts, legal versus illegal immigration, the Constitution, America’s founding principles, and why following the money behind these caravans may be as important as following the migrants themselves.
