Building Blocked? (Guest: David Rubin)

Former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Israel objecting to the United States’ reconstruction plans for Gaza – and what should happen next.

Right before the weekend, President Donald Trump, alongside his Administration, announced the names of certain leaders that will play a part in rebuilding in Gaza, following a harrowing battle between Israel and Hamas. But it doesn’t appear that Israel is on board with the plan.

In a statement following the announcement surrounding a supervised Palestinian committee, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted this plan was “not coordinated with Israel and is contrary to its policy.”

What’s more, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir supported Netanyahu’s statement, and believes that the military need to prepare for a return to war.

The big standout here, based on reports, is that the committee doesn’t include Israeli officials, though an Israeli businessman is included. And, for that matter, other countries, like Turkey and Qatar, are included.

David Rubin, former Mayor of Shiloh, finds this to be a problem. “Placing Qatar and Turkey on the Board of Peace is like placing Cats on the Board of Mouse Protection,” he said.

This puts Trump’s plan of the “Board of Peace” into question, and leads many to wonder what will happen next in Gaza. Rubin joins us now to discuss the situation further.

Q&A:

  1. Why do you believe Israel is objecting to the plans being put in place by Donald Trump and his “Board of Peace” to rebuild Gaza?
  2. Is there a major problem with no Israeli officials being involved? What about the fact that countries like Qatar and Turkey were considered?
  3. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir believes that Netanyahu should call for the military to prepare for a return to war. Is there any hope in keeping the ceasefire going as it stands?
  4. What actions should be taken by Trump to assure that Israel has more involvement in the rebuilding of Gaza? Or is this something that Israel should handle itself?
  5. Where do you see this conflict going in the months ahead? Is there a chance that conflict could begin again?
  6. What about what’s happening in Iran? Will that situation get worse than it’s already gotten?
  7. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
