As the United States and the U.K. Become More Involved In the Gaza War, What Kind of Global Effect Will It Leave? (Guest: David Rubin)

Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses the involvement of the other countries, and how difficulty could arise from finding politically-themed resolution.

Just days after a strike left three U.S. soldiers dead in Jordan (and a number of others injured), the country, alongside the U.K., have begun launching strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. As a result, it’s expected that the Iran-aligned Yemeni group could target both Israeli and U.S. interests, escalating the war even further.

The Houthis have been continuously attacking commercial ships linked with Israel for weeks, along with military warships deployed by both the U.K. and the United States. It only seems that these strikes will continue to escalate the situation further.

Which brings up an interesting question in regards to a politically-based resolution to the situation. As we’ve seen in the past, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has visited Israel in the hopes of finding a strong answer to the ongoing war. Likewise, U.K. representatives have expressed interest in that as well. But with these continuous strikes, it’s unknown if that resolution could be reached.

Here to discuss the matter further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. Joe Biden had spent a great deal of time doing very little against Iranian targets, but now strikes appear to be launching against the Houthis. What does this say about his change of course? Is he still intent on proceeding with caution when it comes to certain interests within Iran?
  2. What do you think about the U.K. and U.S. strikes on Houthi targets as a whole? Do you believe their involvement could do away with any sort of politically-themed resolution to the matter? Were their efforts really necessary?
  3. What would you say is the big reason that the U.S. and U.K. are involved in these strikes? The attacks by Houthis on their warships? The soldier deaths in Jordan? A combination of these things?
  4. Where do you see the war between Israel and Hamas going in the months ahead? Could the situation become even more heated than it is now?
  5. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, and where people can go to support those in need.
