Supreme Court Punts as Gun Ban Debate Still Alive and Kicking
A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America explains why the fight over gun rights is more important than ever before, after a recent Supreme Court decision.
Even with President Trump in the White House, assault weapon ban discussions are still making the rounds – especially after a recent Supreme Court rejection.
According to AP News, the Court recently decided to reject a pair of gun right cases surrounding ownership rights of the AR-15. However, they warned that they could revisit the issue soon, as several states still believe they have the right to ban it.
Some of the judges believe that allowing such a ban would go right up against the Second Amendment, as provided by the Constitution. But others feel that there is reason to revisit these cases “in the next term or two.”
Several states – including the District of Columbia – have similar laws in place, with many believing that the AR-15 is too deadly to put in the hands of consumers. But, as expected, several Republicans and gun groups have spoken in favor of Americans’ rights to bear arms.
So are these states still going too far when it comes to trying to constitute an assault rifle ban? A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America joins us now to discuss this further. We welcome them to the show!

- Where do you see the battle over assault weapon bans going over the next few months? Could other states try to put their own limitations in place, like Colorado recently did?
