The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses the reported death of Hamas’ de facto leader Mohammed Sinwar, and what this means moving forward.
For months, Israel has been slowly but surely building up resistance against Hamas in their ongoing fight across the Gaza Strip. But today, it appears the former has landed a critical blow.
According to CNN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that a recent airstrike has taken out the elusive de factor leader of Hamas, Mohammed Sinwar, in an airstrike. This is the latest in a series of targeted assassinations against top brass in Hamas.
This is the second Sinwar sibling killed in an Israel attack, with the first, former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, being taken out back in October 2024.
During a recent speech at the Knesset, Netanyahu noted, “We changed the face of the Middle East, we pushed the terrorists from our territories, we entered the Gaza Strip with force, we eliminated tens of thousands of terrorists, we eliminated (Mohammad) Deif, (Ismail) Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Sinwar.”
That said, Hamas has rejected claims about Sinwar’s death, noting it is “authorized to confirm or deny what is published.”
But if the death is, in fact, official, what does this mean for the conflict with Hamas moving forward?
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
