The CCP Wasted No Time In Denouncing Taiwan’s Vice President With His Recent Trip To the United States (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times’ Nan Su talks about the continued relentlessness of the Chinese Communist Party, and what could come next.

China and Taiwan have been at each other’s throats for some time, and a recent situation stemming from Taiwan’s vice president visiting the United States may have just heated things up even further.

A recent report from The Epoch Times reveals that China’s foreign ministry has officially labeled Taiwan’s vice president, Lai Ching-te, as a “troublemaker through and through,” with a more “forceful response” to come, according to the article. This follows Ching-te’s recent visit to the United States, in which he stopped in New York on August 12th, with a stop in San Francisco expected this week.

It’s no secret that the Chinese Communist Party has been attempting to isolate Taiwan, mainly with attracting a number of its allies. Thus far, since Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s election in 2016, it’s lost ten.

The reason for Lai’s trip involves trying to improve ties between Taiwan and the U.S., as part of his promise to sit down with “like-minded” countries to have “self-confident exchanges” with world leaders.

Speaking with reporters at Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport before his trip to New York, Lai noted that this will “let the international community understand that Taiwan is a country that adheres to democracy, freedom and human rights, and actively participates in international affairs.” Alas, it seems that China isn’t too thrilled with this tactic, and may push even further to convince more allies to leave Taiwan behind.

Joining us now to discuss this matter further is Nan Su, a senior investigative reporter for The Epoch Times. He specializes in all things China, so his expertise will certainly be welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. Why do you think China is so bothered by Lai’s recent trip to New York and San Francisco? Are they so concerned about Taiwan’s diplomatic ties with the United States?
  2. Could this also have to do with the CCP disapproving of the United States’ recent actions in shutting down their surveillance attempts in New York and other states?
  3. China has promised a more “forceful response” to this matter after labeling Lai as a “troublemaker.” What do you believe this “forceful response” could be?
  4. Some people believe that a war could be coming between China and the United States, with Taiwan possibly playing a pivotal role in the matter. What’s your take on this?
  5. Speaking of uneasiness with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  6. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
