Thanks To the Supreme Court, the Environmental Protection Agency Can No Longer Regulate Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Fossil Fuel Electric Power Plants
Following its reversal of Roe vs. Wade last week, the Supreme Court continued to knock down regulations this week, including the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel electric power plants.
Through a 6-3 vote by the Court, the EPA no longer has authority over what West Virginia Solicitor General Lindsay See noted “much broader power…to reshape the nation’s energy sector, or most any other industry for that matter, by choosing which sources should exist at all, and setting standards to make it happen.” One particular theory even noted how this contributed to overall global warming.
Joining us now to provide his insight on this decision against the EPA is Guy Mitchell. His expertise shows in his latest book, Global Warming: The Great Deception, where he discusses a number of flawed claims surrounding global warming.
Q&A:
- What do you think about this decision against the EPA overall?
- What kind of effect do you believe this will have on global warming now that it can no longer regulate carbon dioxide emissions?
- West Virginia and 28 other states had challenged the authority the Clean Air Act gave the EPA in the past. Did they have too much of a stranglehold over say with carbon dioxide emissions? Was there anything they could’ve done about this before the Supreme Court made its decision?
- What’s your takeaway on See noting that the EPA was able to choose “which sources should exist at all,” while “setting standards to make it happen”?
- What kind of fallout do you believe will come from this? Could the EPA try to strike back with additional regulations? Or something else structured under Biden and his groups?
