Interview guest Police Officer Michael Letts
The New York Post reported that a Boston social justice charity affiliate, funded in part by Black Lives Matter, scammed donors out of $185,000, citing allegations by federal authorities.
The allegations are that Clark Grant and Monica Cannon-Grant treated their organization as a personal piggy bank to pay for shopping sprees, salons, and a summer vacation trip.
In 2017 their “Fight Supremacy” Boston March followed the Charlottesville, Virginia “Unite the Righ” rally, making national headlines.
We invited the founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization InVest USA to see how he runs his charity and determine if he believes this Black Lives Matter affiliate is on the up and up or being wrongly persecuted.
Q&A:
1) What makes it newsworthy and compelling for this nonprofit that Monica Cannon-Grant and Clark Grant started, the “Violence in Boston organization” to be indicted?
Answer: When one advocates for social justice, but their definition of such is Black Lives Matter and takes donations from such, yet they use the money for vacations, etc., it has to make one wonder whether they have any understanding of what true social justice is all about.
2) Is this the way to run a charity, and how does this differ from how you run InVest USA?
Answer: It’s no way to run a charity. At InVest USA, we keep personal expenses personal and separate from charitable expenses. Otherwise, we lose faith in the eyes of our donors and we would be working against our cause.
3) What perception does this situation portray to society at large?
Answer: That a number of Black Lives Matter affiliates are a scam operation that generates press for attention for its leadership to be able to use the funding to enrich themselves, and sometimes not using funds for the purpose of improving the lives of Black society.
3) How does it affect First Responders?
Answer: It is frustrating to see those who disrespect the law, prefer injustice, and promote chaos and disorder prevail with such things as the demonization of police, yet in this instance…True justice prevailed!
4) Black Lives Matter is claiming to be a scam victim, having reportedly donated thousands of dollars in 2017 to support Violence in Boston’s program to feed needy children. They claim the money was secretly transferred two days afterward to a bank account of a family member of Monica Cannon-Grant. What do you make of that?
Answer: Many aspects of Black Lives Matter appear to be a scam, to begin with, so this might be a case of one scammer scamming another.
5) Please tell us about your work at InVest USA and where we may learn more about your charity.
