A scary situation unfolded on a Flydubai flight headed for Israel, with a conflict between pilots being questioned as a “terror attack.”
There is a great deal of uneasiness between Israel and Hamas right now, to the point that literally anything can happen between the two sides. And with reports emerging about a potential “terror attack”, former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin, founder and president of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund can’t help but ask questions.
- A struggle between pilots occurred on a Flydubai flight headed for Israel, in which one pilot was reportedly stabbed. The plane descended briefly as a result, but cabin crew were able to take control of the situation.
- Israel’s current assessment is that this could have been an attempted “terror attack,” though an investigation is currently underway.
- The flight did land safely with no casualties, though there are some in the hospital, including the two pilots.
Though details are still being investigated at the moment, a conflict of some kind broke out between two pilots on a Flydubai flight headed to Israel. Fox News reports that the co-pilot apparently stabbed the captain in the cockpit, making him fall onto the controls and causing the plane to descend thousands of feet.
Acting quickly, the cabin crew were able to regain control of the flight after entering the cockpit. It later landed safely in Tabur, Saudi Arabia, with no injuries aside from the two pilots. (They’re currently in the hospital.)

There are questions as to what led to the confrontation and the attack. However, at the moment, Israel’s current assessment stands that the incident could very well have been a planned “terror attack.” An investigation is currently underway.
But it’s scary to think that someone could randomly launch a “terror attack” such as this, using innocent people to send a message. The question is, could it happen again?
Rubin joins us now to discuss this situation further. Welcome, Mayor Rubin!
Q&A:
- What are your thoughts on what took place on the Flydubai flight headed for Israel? Was it frightening to think that someone could potentially take control of the plane so easily?
- What does this incident say about the broader security concerns surrounding Israel and Hamas? Could an incident like this potentially be planned to send some kind of message?
- What do you think occurred between the two pilots? We know an investigation is underway, but is it possible the co-pilot had some sort of attack in mind from the beginning?
- What does this incident say about the ongoing hostility toward Israel? And, for that matter, how does that hostility affect Jewish people who may be targeted because of their connection to Israel?
- Where do you see the conflict between Israel and Hamas ultimately heading? What would need to happen for a lasting peace to become possible?

About David Rubin…
David Rubin and his three-year-old son, narrowly escaped heinous deaths at the hands of terrorists. Had it not been for his car suddenly starting, Rubin and his son would not have been so fortunate. The younger Rubin deals with the trauma to this day. That experience is what led David to establish the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, to help other young victims of Islamic terrorism, who need to process and deal with their trauma. Rubin, also the former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel is the author of seven books, including his latest, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel, which has recently been made into a movie.
