Under cross-examination, Hull testified he was not involved in the decision to pave over the dirt beneath the crime scene at Utah Valley University. Even more remarkably, he told the court he didn’t know it had happened until he saw it reported in the news. For the lead investigator on one of the nation’s highest-profile homicide cases to be unaware that the crime scene had been permanently altered is a revelation that demands explanation.
If the lead investigator didn’t authorize the destruction of the Kirk crime scene—and wasn’t even informed about it—who had that authority? Why was the area paved over in the first place? Was every conceivable piece of forensic evidence collected before the ground was permanently covered? Who determined the scene no longer held evidentiary value? And why hasn’t that decision been publicly explained?
Hodges has followed the Charlie Kirk investigation from the beginning and has closely examined the testimony, investigative timeline and procedural decisions surrounding the case.
