Magic Bullets: Physics and Narratives at Odds in both JFK and Charlie Kirk Assassinations
Dr. David Mantik, a noted medical physicist and longtime JFK researcher, draws a provocative comparison between two tragedies that have shaken America’s sense of truth: the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the recent shooting of commentator Charlie Kirk.
In the Kennedy case, the “magic bullet” became the enduring symbol of a government-sanctioned mystery—the projectile that supposedly entered and exited multiple bodies at impossible angles, defying both anatomy and physics. Six decades later, the public again faces unanswered questions about a shooting whose official explanations appear to bend logic rather than clarify it.
Former colleague of Kirk’s Andrew Kolvet took to X and appeared to lionize Kirk by implying that his bones were so dense they did what no normal human bone could do – Stop a bullet from a .306; it was a miracle, we were told.
Mantik asks: how can a nation that still debates one “magic bullet” accept another without scrutiny? His concern is not about partisanship but about pattern recognition—when narratives are constructed first and forensic reasoning is forced to follow.
He emphasizes that Americans deserve transparent, scientifically sound analyses whenever political violence occurs. Whether in Dallas or in Provo, the obligation remains the same: data must precede declaration. Ballistics, wound paths, and medical evidence should never be molded to fit a storyline; they should build it.
In this commentary, Mantik revisits the JFK autopsy controversies as a framework for understanding how official investigations can go astray—and how citizens can insist on evidence-based truth rather than convenient conclusions. Two events, two bullets, and one recurring question: when will America demand that physics, not politics, determine what really happened?

ABOUT DR. DAVID MANTIK…
An M.D. and Ph.D., David Mantik spent many years in private practice in Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert, California. More recently, he became a peripatetic radiation oncologist. He is currently licensed in eight states and has also worked in Hawaii and New Zealand.
In his spare time, Mantik writes about the JFK assassination and has made some amazing discoveries. He spent nine full days at the National Archives to view (and perform measurements on) the JFK autopsy X-rays, the autopsy photographs, JFK’s clothing and the ballistic artifacts. So, we now know that the Warren Commission was not very interested in the truth, but that indifference still seems to afflict Washington, DC. In 2024, Mantik co-authored the book, The Final Analysis with Dr. Jerome Corsi.
