Is Donald Trump the Key To a Ceasefire? (Guest: David Rubin)

The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Trump’s involvement in the ongoing fight between Israel and Hamas – and if it’s the best move forward.

As the Israel/Hamas conflict reaches its latest anniversary date, U.S. President Donald Trump is making a new push for both countries to finally reach a decisive ceasefire, in an effort to end the bloody conflict.

Right before the weekend, Trump urged Hamas to release all its hostages and move quickly on a resolution with Israel, with potential dire consequences to come if they failed to do so. Since that time, things have been moving – albeit slowly – from both sides.

Israel has reduced its number of military strikes on Gaza, though some conflict still continues in certain sections. And, in a social media post, Trump urged Hamas to “act quickly” and potentially release its remaining hostages, but once again warned that if action wasn’t taken, “all bets would be off.”

With that, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement of his own. “It is not final yet, we are working on it diligently, and, God willing, I hope that in the coming days, during the Sukkot holiday, I will be able to announce to you the return of all our hostages, the living and the fallen alike, in a single operation, while the IDF remains in the depth of the Strip and in the areas that control it.”

The next few days will be interesting, as U.S. negotiators travel to Cairo in an effort to meet with Egyptian, Qatari and Hamas parties to see if a ceasefire can finally be reached. But the question is if Hamas will bend the knee, or continue to hold its remaining hostages as playing cards in the deal.

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think about Trump’s moves going into the weekend in an effort to resolve the conflict between Israel and Hamas?
  2. How would Trump benefit from all this if a deal manages to get made between the two parties?
  3. Could Hamas finally be on the verge of releasing these hostages? Or do you believe they will still use them as a bartering tool to get some sort of advantage from this deal?
  4. What about Netanyahu’s response? Do you believe he and Trump are seeing eye to eye again, or are there still too many differences in what they both want?
  5. As we get closer to October 7th, what kind of reflection are we seeing from the bloody attack that Hamas engaged on Israel? Is it disturbing that some parts of the world are still pushing for Palestine, in spite of what happened?
  6. Where do you see this conflict between Israel and Hamas ultimately going? Is Hamas on the verge of surrender? Or will it take one final push to settle this once and for all?
  7. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
