Hamas Trying To Scare Gazans?

Reconnecting Ministries founder Grant Berry explains why the terrorist group isn’t even close to resolving one of its biggest problems.

Some Gazans have had enough of Hamas’ actions – but instead of actually listening and trying to find a resolution, it’s taken a much more noticeable path.

Per this report from MSN, the group has been pushing back against growing protests on the Gaza strip, with many Palestinians calling for the group to pull out of the area and end its war with Israel. Instead of listening to criticisms, it appears to be pushing to silent dissent instead, in an effort to look strong as Israel keeps up its charge.

Many Gazans have received threatening call and summons from Hamas’ internal security, threatening them in a number of ways. What’s more, local media notes that anonymous Hamas officials have branded protestors as collaborators with Israel, or all-out traitors.

One harrowing example surrounds Oday Rabey, who was beaten to death by Hamas members after he tried to defend his cousin from being harassed by their security personnel.

This goes against what Hamas official Basem Naim said last month with the protests. He noted that “all people have the right to cry out of pain and raise their voices against the aggression against our people.” However, in the same statement, he criticized those that “exploit these tragic humanitarian conditions, whether to advance suspicious political agenda or to absolve the criminal aggressor, the occupation and its army, of responsibility.”

So what does this say about Hamas? And, what’s more, is intimidation really the best method to take, considering how many Gazans and Palestinians are rallying against them?

Joining us now to discuss this further is Grant Berry, founder of Reconnecting Ministries and the author and producer of the Romans 911 project. His expertise on the matter make him a great subject for this interview. Welcome, Grant!

Q&A:

  1. What are your thoughts on the growing protests against Hamas? Have Palestinians and Gazans simply had enough of their actions as of late?
  2. What about the decision by Hamas officials to fight back with intimidation rather than listening to the complaints given during these protests?
  3. Are you surprised by the action Hamas officials have taken here, especially given what they’ve done to Israeli citizens and soldiers in the past?
  4. What about the story surrounding the death of Oday Rabey? Was beating him to death simply for supporting his family a step too far?
  5. Where do you see the conflict between Israel and Hamas going in the months ahead? Is Hamas showing signs of weakness that Israel should take advantage of?
  6. Tell us more about the Romans 911 audiobook, as well as the Romans 911podcast.
  7. You’ve also launched a new series called Romans 911 Project TALKS. Tell us more about it.
  8. Where can we find Romans 911 and learn more about it?
