President Biden’s Continued Criticism of Netanyahu Further Questions Where His Support Lies With Israel (Guest: David Rubin)

Following Biden’s latest statement, former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses where the President stands – and what it could mean for Israel.

Just as he’s been doing as of late, President Joe Biden once again jumped at the opportunity to get a jab at Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently made a speech, calling for Israel to hold elections to replace Netanyahu, who was elected in free and fair elections, and all this despite Israel being at war with Hamas, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands. Biden took the opportunity right before the weekend to agree with Schumer’s statements.

“He made a good speech, and I think he expressed serious concern shared not only by him, but by many Americans.”

Schumer had noted in his speech, “Nobody expects Prime Minister Netanyahu to do the things that must be done to break the cycle of violence, preserve Israel’s credibility on the world stage and work toward a two-state solution.”

That said, however, the United States continues to support Israel with weapons, as well as supporting Palestinian civilians with the humanitarian supply drops to Gaza. So, like always, it appears that Biden is playing both sides, in an effort to keep a positive outlook on him as he heads into a campaign against Trump, who, in his term as president, was a strong supporter of Israel.

Joining us now to discuss his actions is David Rubin, the former Mayor of Shiloh Israel, to discuss the matter further. Welcome, David!

Q&A:

  1. It seems Biden and most of his administration remain divided between their support of Israel and Netanyahu. What does this say about where he stands in the ongoing war?
  2. Could this negative feedback against Netanyahu be problematic heading into his re-election? Will people object to his “two-sided” approach when it comes to supporting Israel with weapons and other goods?
  3. What do you think Netanyahu’s stance is when it comes to the United States?
  4. Why are so many quick to fault Netanyahu’s leadership? Because of his lack of a “two-state solution”? Or is it something else?
  5. Where do you see the war between Israel and Hamas going in the months ahead? For that matter, where does this leave the United States?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, which heals the trauma of terror victim children?
