With Israel Possibly Agreeing Towards a Ceasefire, Some May Also See It As “Re-Arming” (Guest: Joshua Waller)

HaYovel Operations Director and The Israel Guys co-host Joshua Waller discusses what Netanyahu is considering, and what comes next in the country’s battle with Hamas.

After facing immense pressure from various countries regarding a ceasefire (particularly the United States and President Joe Biden), it appears that Israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be leaning towards finally putting one in place.

Per this report from Associated Press, Israel has “more or less accepted” the deal, and are now waiting to hear back from Hamas. However, some see this as a band-aid for a growing problem.

Joshua Waller, Operations Director for HaYovel and American Cowboy in Israel, believes this is the case. Israel will likely treat the ceasefire as “another way of saying re-arming,” giving them a key opportunity to strategize for their next move against Hamas.

“This is not a get out of jail free card for Hamas,” Waller explained. “Israel will not end this war without eliminating Hamas. The ceasefire will only be done to get hostages home and then will return to eliminate Hamas. It’s not a matter of if they will finish Hamas, but when.”

Waller joins us now to discuss the situation further.

Q&A:

  1. You noted that Israel will not stop unless Hamas is completely destroyed. Why do you believe Netanyahu and officials may be behind this way of thinking?
  2. The ceasefire could certainly prove beneficial when it comes to hostages, provided that Hamas plays ball. But the real question here is…will they?
  3. Why is the United States – and Joe Biden, for that matter – still trying to become deeply involved in what goes on in Israel, you think?
  4. If the ceasefire doesn’t go off as planned, what do you believe will happen? Will the war between Israel and Hamas escalate even further? Will matters get worse before they get better?
  5. What does this mean for you and HaYovel, as you attempt to help Israel citizens in their time of need?
  6. For those that are unfamiliar with HaYovel, tell us more about it and where others can help in this time of need.
