The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses ongoing negotiations, and whether Hamas can be trusted when it comes to releasing hostages.
As the fight between Israel and Hamas continues, there are those still working on some kind of ceasefire, and possibly even the release of hostages. But the real question is if it will finally happen or not.
New reports indicate that Israel has asked for the release of 11 male hostages in what would be the first part of the deal. That said, nothing has been finalized yet, though the BBC reports that the talks are about 90 percent agreed to, save for one sticking point – control of the Philadelphi Corridor, which sits on the Gaza-Egypt border.
Some reports suggest that Hamas is asking for more money for the 11 hostages that Israel is requesting. However, it’s unknown if those terms will be met. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that when it comes to negotiations, “the less we discuss this, the better.”
But can a deal truly be reached? Can Hamas be trusted enough to allow this round of hostages to be let go? Or will something else need to be figured out?
Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin joins us now to discuss the matter further. He also serves as Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s fund. We welcome him to the show.
