A Second Amendment Foundation representative discusses why Biden’s latest move to “combat gun violence” isn’t really the best direction to take.
Over the past year, President Joe Biden has been pushing to ban assault weapons in the United States. But considering the Second Amendment (and the right to bear arms) stands in his way, he seems to be taking a strange new path.
During the weekend, Biden announced that he is establishing a new office of gun violence prevention, which will be overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris. The goal of the office is to “implement existing laws and work with local authorities to pass gun safety legislation at the state level,” according to the White House.
“I’ll continue to urge Congress to take common sense actions that the majority of Americans support like enacting universal background checks and banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” Biden noted. “But in the absence of that sorely-needed action, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention along with the rest of my Administration will continue to do everything it can to combat the epidemic of gun violence that is tearing our families, our communities, and our country apart.”
That said, it appears that Biden is purposely overlooking something that seems to be working when fighting against “active shooters” – those that practice Concealed-Carry. These citizens have actually been effective in stopping such acts of violence, even if the Biden Administration and his fellow government offices refuse to acknowledge them.
